How to Book
To make a Kayak Tour, Kayak Hire booking or SUP lesson or Tour booking, please use the booking facility on this website. Alternatively, you can use the contact us page to submit a request for either SUP or Kayak or e mail us at [email protected] with your enquiry. Our office number is 01726-832451 mob: 07932-469803
Our Kayak trips and hire options are limited in numbers and are therefore subject to availability. School and Bank holidays are often busy as are weekends, so whilst late bookings are welcomed, book well in advance to avoid disappointment. Please also note that parking is limited in the village and guests are requested to either car share where possible or arrange to be dropped off.
Payment
We normally take full payment online at the time of booking through our PayPal account. Off line bookings can be taken via PayPal or Bank transfer with credit card facilities at the Office.
Trip Information and Joining Instructions
When you book you will receive information and joining instructions for your trip, directions on how to get here, what to bring and other useful local information. Once your booking is confirmed and payment received we guarantee there will be no price alterations or surcharges.
Hire (please not we DO NOT hire SUP equipment)
As the estuary is tidal, you must assure us that you can kayak proficiently, and know what to do in the event of a capsize. Singles are only recommended for those with previous experience, as they are slightly less stable than doubles. If in doubt, book a double and ask us for advice. We reserve the right to cancel a hire booking if we believe you would put yourselves and others in danger. Please note we observe a STRICT NO ALCOHOL policy with all hire and sessions.
Cancelling your Booking or Changing your Dates
Please note that we do not offer refunds for cancellation or part refunds for reduced number. In exceptional circumstances we may offer an alternative launch date and/or credit note.
Cancellations by Encounter Cornwall / Paddle Cornwall SUP
Our trips and lessons will run as per the daily schedule, unless there are circumstances beyond our control – such as adverse weather conditions. If we do have to cancel you will be able to choose an alternative date or receive a full refund. Please note that if we decide to cancel a session due to adverse weather we will notify you on the day of your session via the contact number you have given on your booking form. The wind is the key factor to cancelling a sessions as high winds can create dangerous situations and our safety guidelines dictate the conditions.
Weather & Tides
Sadly, we can not control the weather or tides, therefore in the event that the weather or tide is unsuitable, cancellation of your session may occur and an alternative date / credit note will be discussed or alternatively a refund of the fees paid.
Launch Times
Please note that our launch times are dictated by the tides and we ask that all paddlers attend for induction a minimum of 30 minutes prior to launch, please note that we are unable to delay launching if you are late for a session and we have launched, refunds for late arrival can not be given. As such, please ensure you allow plenty of time to arrive for your induction.
Insurance & Liability
Encounter Cornwall has a comprehensive public liability insurance policy with Lark Insurance through Marine Trade, a copy of which can be viewed upon request. Bookings DO NOT include personal travel or accident insurance for paddlers. Please ask your insurers for full details of the necessary insurance required to cover you for taking part in your activity.
Medical Information
Should you have any medical conditions (or otherwise) that could effect your ability whilst on a hire/guided tour or session you should advise the instructors / tour guides prior to launch/booking so that we can make an assessment on your safety, or the safety of the group during your chosen activity. All guests who have booked onto the activity need to be able to swim (with or without a PFD) in light clothing. EC accept no responsibility for issues arising as a result of the non disclosure of any medical conditions and ask that if the client is in doubt, to consult a medical professional.
Under 16’s and Schools
EC hold am AALA licence allowing us to accompany under 16-18 year olds on the water without a parent or guardian. We do however require signed consent to our standard T&C’s (where relevant) from both the schools and parents/guardians of any child taking part. Damage to Kit
We have made great investment to ensure the quality of the equipment we use for our sessions and hire and we ask that all our equipment is used for the purpose for which it was designed and that due attention and care is given to all equipment. Any damages that occur as a result of negligence or malicious acts or carelessness will be subject to a charge for the replacement of said kit at the current market value.
