Terms and Conditions

How to Book
To make a Kayak Tour, Kayak Hire booking or SUP lesson or Tour booking, please use the booking facility on this website. Alternatively you can use the contact us page to submit a request for either SUP or Kayak or e mail us at [email protected] with your enquiey. Our office number is 01726-832451

Our Kayak trips and hire options are limited in numbers and are therefore subject to availability, standard Kayak tour size is 5/1 per instructor and for SUP it's 5 per instructor (COVID Guidelines), This will be increased as the COVID guidelines ease. School and Bank holidays are often busy as are weekends, so whilst late bookings are welcomed, book well in advance to avoid disappointment. Please also note that parking is limited in the village and guests are requested to either car share where possible or arrange to be dropped off.

Payment
We normally take full payment online at the time of booking through our Paypal account. Off line bookings can be taken via paypal or Bank transfer with credit card facilities at the Office.

Trip Information and Joining Instructions
When you book you will receive information and joining instructions for your trip, directions on how to get here, what to bring and other useful local information. Once your booking is confirmed and payment received we guarantee there will be no price alterations or surcharges.

Hire (please not we DO NOT hire SUP equipment) 

As the river is tidal, you must assure us that you can kayak proficiently, and know what to do in the event of a capsize. Singles are only recommended for those with previous experience, as they are slightly less stable than doubles. If in doubt, book a double and ask us for advice. We reserve the right to cancel a hire booking if we believe you would put yourselves and others in danger. Please note we observe a STRICT NO ALCOHOL policy with all hire and sessions.

Cancelling your Booking or Changing your Dates
Please note that we do not offer refunds for cancellation or part refunds for reduced number. In exceptional circumstances we may offer an alternative launch date and/or credit note.

Cancellations by Encounter Cornwall / Paddle Cornwall SUP
Our trips and lessons will run as per the daily schedule, unless there are circumstances beyond our control – such as adverse weather conditions. If we do have to cancel you will be able to choose an alternative date or receive a full refund. Please note that if we decide to cancel a session due to adverse weather we will notify you on the day of your session via the contact number you have given on your booking form. The wind is the key factor to cancelling a sessions as high winds can create dangerous situations and our safety guidelines dictate the conditions.

Weather & Tides

Sadly we can not control the weather or tides, therefore in the event that the weather or tide is unsuitable, cancellation of your session may occur and an alternative date / credit note will be discuussed or alternatively a refund of the fees paid. 

Launch Times

Please note that our launch times are dictated by the tides and we ask that all paddlers attend for induction a minimum of 30 minutes prior to launch, please note that we are unable to delay luanching if you are late for a session and we have launched, refunds for late arrival can not be given. As such, please ensure you allow plenty of time to arrive for your induction. 

Insurance & Liability

Paddle Cornwall River Encounters (PCS) has a comprehensive public liability insurance policy with Lark Insurance through Marine Trade, a copy of which can be viewed upon request. Bookings DO NOT include personal travel or accident insurance for paddlers. Please ask your insurers for full details of the necessary insurance required to cover you for taking part in  your activity.

Medical Forms 

Please advise is upon or prior to bookings if you have any medical conditions that may affect your safety on thew water, we ask that all guests are able to swim at least 50 mtrs unadided for thier own safety. Damage to Kit

We have made great investment to ensure the quality of the equipment we use for our sessions and hire and we ask that all our equipment is used for the purpose for which it was designed and that due attention and care is given to all equipment. Any damages that occur as a result of negligence or malicious acts or carelessness will be subject to a charge for the replacement of said kit at the current market value.

Consent

Please note that during sessions we may take photographs or film, which will be used on both our website and our social media chanels for the promotion of our activities. If you wish to be excluded from such activity, please advise your guide prior to the session so that we can ensure you are not included.

Privacy

The information you provide for your booking is of great value and will not be held by us for any uses other than to inform you of further activities that we deem may be of interest. We will not sell of share your data with any other persons or businesses.

Safety
Your safety and enjoyment is of prime importance to us.

As part of the booking conditions you must agree to follow the instructions and guidance provided in our information and by our instructors. In addition you must act sensibly and prudently at all times with regard to your safety and that of others and their property.

You must advise us of any medical conditions in your party that may affect their ability to paddle.

Parental Responsibility

As a business we hold a valid AALA license, allowing us to take children under the age of 18 out onto the water without parental supervision. However, we do not hire Kayaks to under 18 years olds.

When booking a Kayak tour, please note that we request all children to be accompanied by a parent or guardian in a double kayak, single kayaks are for experienced paddlers only. If our instructors feel your safety is compromised by booking a single, we reserve the right to change your booking to a double.

Our minimum age for SUP is 10 years old. We do not allow children under the age of 10 years to take part in SUP sessions and we do not allow younger children on a board with a parent. The appropraite size of board for age and weight will be allocated by the instructor on attendance.

Please note that any child under the age of 10 who has been booked onto a session will be refused on the day.


COVID-19

Please note that all of our equipment is sprayed and wiped before and after a session with anti bacterial solutions. We will be adhereing to social distancing guidelines during your induction and session and after your session and we resppectfully request that you do the same. We have our Government QR code displayed on the door and would ask you all to scan in for active trackk and trace. Wetsuits are dipped in anti bac solution after each session (please note during off peak seasons wetsuits are recommeded for SUP) 

Whilst you can book a wetsuit on line at point of sale, we request paddlers to bring their own footwear

Complaints
If you do have any problems concerning your trip / session you should contact us immediately and we will do our best to resolve the situation. If we are unable to do this, complaints should be e mailed to the office at [email protected] as soon as is reasonably practical and within 14 days of the end or the trip. 

Terms & Conditions

Please note that by booking on line you accept the above terms and conditions in full without reservation. Off line bookings will be requested to sign a paper version of the same with booking details.
