From our very first strokes along the Cornish coast, we’ve always been about more than just paddling — we’ve been about the experience.

What began as Paddle Cornwall SUP — a mobile stand-up paddleboarding company gliding through the tranquil waters of the Fowey Estuary — has grown into something bigger. Something more immersive, more adventurous, and more deeply connected to the landscapes and waterways we love.

In 2020, we took a big leap forward by buying Encounter Cornwall and bringing it into the fold — an award-winning kayak company with a rich local heritage and a shared passion for uncovering the hidden magic of the estuary. Together, we blended paddleboarding and kayaking, freedom and guidance, adrenaline and serenity.

Now, we’re stepping forward with a new name and a renewed sense of purpose.

We are now simply: Encounter.

"Encounter" speaks to what we truly offer — the chance to encounter something new. Whether it’s a hidden creek at high tide, a curious seal popping up beside your kayak, a peaceful moment floating beneath a canopy of trees, or a shared laugh with fellow paddlers.

Our Home on the Water

Based in the tranquil village of Golant, right on the Fowey Estuary, we’re proud to call this special place our base. It’s where every journey begins — whether you're paddling solo or joining one of our expertly guided tours.

Inspiring the Next Generation

We’re also deeply passionate about working with young people through schools and colleges, helping them build confidence, connect with nature, and develop a lifelong love of the water. From group paddle sessions to water safety education and environmental awareness, our work with youth is a big part of who we are.

We believe it’s never too early to fall in love with the outdoors — and we’re proud to support that journey every step of the way.
